Installing SID 5.10 Final XBOX XBMC via Splinter Cell. wiring

Here is a quick walkthrough of installing SID.

the wiring to the XBOX controller from the USB socket is easy as they are both the same colour!
All you need to do is cut the plug off an old controller and cut an old USB extension cable in half.

insert the SDcard or thumbdrive with SID on it.
Boot the XBOX with NO DVD inserted.

Select memory card
go down to required item.
copy over both SID and install to HD.
(use the right arrow).

Insert and boot Splinter Cell keeping the USB drive installed.
select “start game”
select “checkpoints”

Hopefully at this point XBMC will boot.

Select “backup and restore”
Backup EEPROM
Create MS Backup

Install Softmod HD

once this is done it will ask to reboot. Select this and remove the USB drive

BOOT
select “settings”
select “apperance”
select “PM3.HD”

you may also need to adjust the monitor settings as well.

Scrachpad website www.remote-storage.co.uk

I thought the other day that I would create a new website that I have no use for.
odd? Yes, But…it will be a scratchpad for testing things.

For example:
How do you create a wordpress install from scratch?
Install applications to Ubuntu
create a remote login via putty
cross copy data between sites
email using MX record.

and much more!!

So I have purchased a VPS (Virtual Private Server) to do just this.

Here it is:

http://www.remote-storage.co.uk

It may have some fantastic content or (and this is more likely) nothing!
Anyhow, please feel free to visit and drop me a comment.

Dell PP01S

Yes its an old computer, but I find its a laptop. Remember them? Laptops that are small and simple to run.

But someone somewhere must know how to kill the BIOS password? I am getting fed up pressing F12 for it boot from the HDD.

Website going a while – time for an upgrade

Well…this website has been going a while now and I am getting about 50 new visitors a day, which I suppose for a small backwater is not too bad.

Expect a HUGE jump in postings as I will start (20th May) doing a daily “what I am working on” log.

Also I am going to try and create a one line command line posting from the server giving details on what its doing.

Another task that (hopefully) will be included is a email –> website feed.

Enjoy!!

BT Fon BT Openzone Mobile Wifi hotspots

I have a Nokia 5800 and I needed an application that would automatically log me in.

Oddly (and no surprise) BT do NOT supply one for the Nokia. iPhone and others yes, but not Nokia.

So I have found this:

http://www.handywi.com/

Its great. Gives the name, signal strength and if its locked or not. Put your account details in the settings and thats it…auto login!!
